Catherine Richards teaches English for medical purposes to radiographers, biomedical analysts and nurses in Locarno, Switzerland. She works as an item writer for the Reading and Listening papers for the Occupational English Test and was a speaking examiner and team leader in southern Switzerland for Cambridge language exams, examining all levels (A2-C2).
As founder and director of EALTHY, the leading association for teachers of medical English, she is the principal organiser of the biannual English for Healthcare Conference. She is also a member of the editorial board of the English for Specific Purposes Journal, works as a medical English teacher trainer and develops medical English teaching materials.
Catherine holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Swansea University.
