SLC expand online ESOL provision with South East Strategic Partnership for Migration

We’re delighted to have been commissioned to provide an online ESOL programme for refugee and migrant learners by the South East Strategic Partnership for Migration (SESPM).

The courses run from January to March, with 120 fully funded places available. They include the following:

  • Communication skills for integration
  • Language and communication skills for the workplace
  • Conversation clubs
  • Everyday English and cultural awareness

Courses are online so anybody across the South East – from Kent to Hampshire to Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire can join.

This is a great opportunity for those learners who find it difficult to attend face-to-face lessons in their local college because of work or family commitments, because of health and transport issues or because there are no places available.

The SESPM ESOL programme is based on the current courses running across the East of England, commissioned by Local Government East Strategic Migration Partnership. Here, we’re just coming to the end of the first programme and are looking forward to delivering a second programme in January for a total of 225 learners. Uptake has been very strong, with courses booking out in days and excellent attendance and engagement throughout.

The impact of online ESOL

Providing online ESOL courses is something we feel very passionate about as we see the difference it makes to the lives and opportunities of so many of our learners – from developing the confidence to interact with neighbours and local communities, to getting employment and promotion, to securing accommodation and local school places for children, to passing tests such as IELTS, OET and Driving Theory.

If you’re interested in how online ESOL programmes work, please get in touch. Over the years, we have worked with Strategic Migration Partnerships, local authorities, the NHS Displaced Talent project, and refugee support organisations such as Breaking Barriers and the Lincolnshire Refugee Doctor Project.
