IELTS Preparation, International House London

This course is designed for students who need to achieve a particular score in the IELTS Test.  The IELTS exam is recognised by universities, companies, professional bodies, immigration authorities, and government institutions all around the world as a measure of English Language ability. Most British universities require a score of 5.0 – 7.5.

Course structure

You can choose from 15 or 20 lessons per week on the 4 and 8 week courses. The intensive 1 week course is 25 lessons per week, with guided self-study each evening. 

In class you will concentrate on practice tests and IELTS test-taking techniques, covering the different elements of the test and the question types you are required to answer. There is a focus on Academic English to prepare you for the kind of language you will experience in the IELTS test.

Lessons are interactive and communicative, with class discussions, debates, and lots of group and pair-work. There is regular test practise and mock examinations. 

You will also have regular tutorials with your class tutor to discuss your progress and what areas you should concerntrate on for self-study. 

All students will be required to pass the school exam entrance test before starting their exam course. SLC will arrange this for you.
