SLC to take part in NHS Careers Fair for Refugee and Migrant Communities
We know how much healthcare talent, experience and skill exists in the many refugee and migrant communities throughout the UK. Working with organisations like regional Strategic Migration Partnerships, RefuAid and the Lincolnshire Refugee Doctor Project to support the English language needs of surgeons, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, general practitioners, physiotherapists and other allied health professionals has highlighted this time and again.
Most want nothing more than to practice again in the UK, but need language and professional qualifications before doing so, including English language – typically OET or IELTS.
This is why we’re delighted to have been invited to participate in a large NHS careers fair targeting the needs of refugees and others facing employment barriers across the East of England. The fair, hosted by Indeed and supported by the UNHCR (UN Refugee Agency), covers roles across the NHS, clinical and non-clinical. It’s an opportunity for attendees to meet NHS employers, professional bodies, recruitment specialists, employment support organisations, and local information and advice organisations.
SLC will be in the Professional Registration Zone, where will be sharing a table with our long-standing partners, the East of England Strategic Migration Partnership, with whom we have prepared many groups of learners for both OET and IELTS. The zone is for registered clinicians who would like support with their next steps on practicing in the UK. Other exhibitors include the NMC, NHS Professionals, OET and the British Council. We’ll be there to advise and share our experience on what tests registrants take and the most effective ways of preparing for them.
The fair takes place on Thursday March 14th at the Holiday Inn Stevenage, St. George’s Way, Stevenage, SG1 1HS.
